J-Cuts & L-Cuts
The AutoCut extension for Premiere Pro now includes a feature that allows users to easily create J-Cuts and/or L-Cuts within their videos. These cuts are a great way to add a professional touch to your videos and keep your audience engaged. This document will guide you through the steps of using this feature.
Setup cut settings
As J-Cut and L-Cut are an option to the silence mode, to use this feature, you must first set up the cut settings in the AutoCut panel. To do this, follow your usual steps.
Setup J-Cuts and L-Cuts
Once AutoCut is setup to remove the silences, you can apply J-Cuts and L-Cuts to your video. To do this, follow the steps below.
- Open the Padding & J-Cut/L-Cut panel in the extension.
- In the panel, you will see options for J-Cut and L-Cut. Select the option you would like to apply to your video. By default, it is set to None which means no J-Cut or L-Cut will be applied.

Adjusting the Transition Time
If you have J-Cut, L-Cut or Both selected, the paddings are now the transition time between the video and audio. By ajusting the before and after paddings, you change the amount of time the audio and video overlap. This is the transition time.
Applying the Cuts and J-Cuts / L-Cuts
After adjusting the transition time, simply click the Cut and delete button to add the transitions.
